XP Maximized: How to get better Sound!

Here is an adjustment that'll squeeze much better sound out of your XP system. Is your system using your sound chip or your sound card. Making sure it's using the right one can make a huge difference in quality.

To get the best PC sound, go to control panel > open the 'Sounds and Audio Devices' control panel and check if you are using your soundcard, not the built-in sound chip. Then get Windows to configure the sound for your setup, such as Dolby Digital surroundsound and 5.1 speakers.

Click on Advanced under Device Volume, to adjust the volume of individual devices such as your CD player.

Use Options> Properties, to choose which devices you want to alter here; you can mute devices you don't have and then hide them in the dialog box. Once you've put the volume icon into the taskbar you can double click it to open this again.
