Easy Internet Video - Part 2

Using the right software to create videos to view on the Internet can make you look like a video genius. Using the right software to compress those videos will prove you're a video genius! In this article I'll show you how to make sure everyone watching your videos online does not need Windows Media Player, RealPlayer or any other player.

Plus people on modems AND broadband will be able to watch your videos.

Now how impressive is that?

No you do not have to pay someone to stream your online videos. It is completely possible to stream your own videos on your own web site.

This is all acomplished with a piece of software called Wildform Flix Pro. Flix Pro will compress your video files and put them into customized player skins for easy playback on your web site.

How much compression you ask?

HUGE compression!

Here's an example using my own files.

MuVee original .mpg file for the bed & breakfast video = 11.9 Megs
Flix Pro compression of the above file = 2.1 Megs

As you can see there is a significant compression that took place.

You'll also notice that with my example files I offer the site visitor a modem version. Now talk about compression... that 11.9 Meg file was reduced to 317 KB!

Granted it's not the greatest quality on the planet but at least you won't leave the modem folks out of the loop.

One of the best ways to place video on a web site is to convert the video into a flash file, and that is exactly what Flix Pro does. Flash video is the most widely compatible video format, and can be created so that it loads quickly and runs smoothly on almost any internet connection speed.

WildForm Flix Pro can also add a pre loader VCR-like player controls to your video - so that it looks and feels like the work of a pro.

The downside - Flix Pro costs $149. You can download a free trial or purchase the lite version. But if you plan to add much video to your web site, you might as well get the Pro version and also invest in the $29 FlixPro PowerPlayers add on.

For more example of how I have used MuVee and Wildform Flix Pro to promote online videos visit my travel site at ExploreEugeneOregon.com

You'll notice on the site that to help the user choose the right video I created a selection boxes. The selection boxes show them what the video title is, it politely reminds them to turn their speakers on and to choose between broadband or modem and then press the big button to play. Pretty hard to get confused.

When you play this video you'll change screens. To get back here click the "Back" button just above the video or the "Back" button of your browser.
